Research Impact

Our research was scored top in the UK for its impact in the area of Earth and Environmental Science (REF, 2021).
In Engineering, 80% of our submitted research was scored as world-leading or internationally excellent, with the score for Research Impact placing us in the top 1/3 of institutions in UK (REF, 2021).

Facilities

Our research and teaching facilities include:

Large, modern, well equipped teaching and research laboratories;
A £3.5 million seagoing research vessel and three smaller inshore vessels;
A Natural History Museum with extensive invertebrate and vertebrate collections;
